Calling out to Yeti is a performative and transdisciplinary project, which is an extension of my previous artistic and travel researches.By invoking the creature - Yeti, I am trying to define the relationship of modern man to nature as well as his sense of connection with the surrounding "uncivilized world". Taking into account the most important elements of the project, it could be viewed from two perspectives, one is close to introspection, the other is related to an anthropological attitude. Above all, however, Calling to Yeti is a story about blurring the boundaries: between fiction and reality, nature and culture, east and west, science and cryptoscience, news and fake news; a story about the collapse of binary oppositions that are not useful for describing the world; finally, a story about the path and the creative process that is contained along the way. Calling to Yeti is a project that takes place stationary as well as in motion, journey is its integral part.
The setting for artistic activities was Nepal. Especially the small town of Marpha in Lower Mustang, where I stayed at the Marpha Foundation (March 2019). The context of the place is extremely important and cannot be ignored. The assumptions made in Poland did not necessarily turn out to be useful on the spot. Getting to know the country and penetrating the tissue of the local community, the surprising landscape, weather conditions, people encountered, these complex elements influenced the project. Facing Nepalese poverty, "producing art", including "Yeti research", seemed to me completely inadequate, and my Eurocentric (however) mind was thrown out of the state of comfort. What I experienced shaped my reflection, the project gained new layers, somehow coupled with the Nepalese reality. Calling out to Yeti is a story full of concern for the natural environment, and this concern would not exist without Nepal and its inhabitants. I feel grateful for the opportunity to be elsewhere and for the changes in my perception of the world that have taken place in me thanks to this transforming journey.

Wołając do Yeti to performatywny i transdyscyplinarny projekt, który stanowi rozwinięcie moich wcześniejszych artystycznych i podróżniczych poszukiwań. Poprzez przywołanie istoty - Yeti, po raz kolejny próbuję określić relację współczesnego człowieka wobec natury jak również jego poczucie łączności z otaczającym nieucywilizowanym światem. Biorąc pod uwagę najważniejsze elementy projektu, można by go rozpatrywać z dwóch perspektyw, jedna bliska jest introspekcji, druga wiąże się z nastawieniem antropologicznym. Ponad wszystko jednak Wołając do Yeti to opowieść o zacieraniu granic: między fikcją i rzeczywistością, naturą i kulturą, wschodem i zachodem, nauką i kryptonauką, news'em i fake news'em; opowieść o upadku binarnych opozycji, które nie są przydatne do opisywania świata; w końcu opowieść o drodze i procesie twórczym, który w drodze się zawiera. Wołając do Yeti to projekt, który rozgrywa się stacjonarnie jak również w ruchu, podróż stanowi jego nieodłączny element.
Scenerią działań artystycznych stał się Nepal, a szczególnie mała miejscowość Marpha w Dolnym Mustangu, gdzie przebywałam na rezydencji w Marpha Foundation (marzec 2019). Kontekst miejsca jest niezwykle istotny i nie można go pominąć. Założenia poczynione w Polsce niekoniecznie okazały się przydatne na miejscu. Poznawanie kraju i wnikanie w tkankę lokalnej społeczności, zaskakujący pejzaż, warunki pogodowe, napotkani ludzie, te złożone elementy wpływały i wciąż wpływają na projekt. W zetknięciu z nepalską biedą produkowanie sztuki, w tym również, badanie Yeti wydało mi się zupełnie nieadekwatne, a mój europocentryczny (jednak) umysł został wytrącony ze stanu komfortu. To czego doświadczałam ukształtowało moją refleksję, projekt zyskał nowe warstwy, sprzężone niejako z nepalską rzeczywistością. Wołając do Yeti jest opowieścią pełną troski o środowisko naturalne, która nie zaistniałaby bez Nepalu i jego mieszkańców. Czuję wdzięczność za możliwość bycia gdzie indziej i za zmiany w percepcji świata, które dokonały się we mnie dzięki tej transformującej podróży.
